PROMPT OF THE WEEK

Sell the Dream, Not Just the Product

Want to know why celebrity brands feel irresistible?
It’s not the product — it’s the promise.
This week’s prompt helps you tap into the transformation your customer really wants.

🧠 Prompt:
"Write 3 social media posts that sell the dream or identity my customer wants to embody by buying [insert product]. Use emotion and storytelling to position the product as part of their bigger transformation."

đź’ˇ Example:
Let’s say you sell a digital planner for busy moms.

Before: “This planner helps you organize your week and track your to-do list.”
After: “It’s not just a planner. It’s your peace of mind in printable form. The moment you open it, your week stops feeling like chaos and starts feeling under control. You’re not just keeping up — you’re leading the day.”

BEYOND THE SCROLL

Hailey Bieber has a Billion Dollar Brand. Here’s What She Know that You Don’t

Last week, Hailey Bieber sold her makeup brand, Rhode, for a BILLION dollars! And she just started in 2022! Wow!

Every day, it seems, we hear about some celeb starting an ecommerce brand. And it’s no wonder!  They can make millions - even billions - shilling their products on Instagram and TikTok.  Leveraging the power of their name and influence is an easy, more stable way to create financial security than in the fickle world of entertainment.

Just off the top of my head, Here’s a list of celebs with ecommerce businesses…

Jessica Alba - Honest

Rihanna - Fenty Beauty

Kim Kardashian - Skims

Selena Gomez - Rare Beauty

Kylie Jenner - Kylie Cosmetics

Khloe Kardashian - Good American

Reese Witherspoon - Draper James

Kendall Jenner - 818 Tequila

Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen - The Row

Drew Barrymore - Flower Beauty

Gwyneth Paltrow - Goop

Kate Hudson - Fabletics (I love this brand and wear her stuff when I work out!!!)

Drake - OVO

Beyonce - Cecred

Ariana Grande - REM makeup

George Clooney - Casamigos Tequila

Lady Gaga - Haus Labs

Nicole Ritchie - House of Harlow

Kristin Cavallari - Uncommon James

DJ Khalid - Goldition (I can just hear him saying “We da best!”)

Jaden Smith - Just Water

Sarah Jessica Parker - SJP

Emily Rat - Inamorata

Jessica Simpson

Serena Williams

Victoria Beckham

Dwayne Johnson “The Rock”

Adele

Cindy Crawford - Meaningful Beauty

And tons more!

And can you blame them? Because let’s be honest, what do you think Rihanna would rather do? Go on an 18-month world-tour with 2 (soon to be 3) children all under the age of 3?  Or show up to a Fenty pop-up store event for a few hours once a month while her team does all the marketing and other stuff?

And the result? While Selena and Kylie are …

  • Voguing at the Met Gala

  • Sitting courtside at the NBA playoffs

  • Having dinner at Nobu on a random Tuesday night in LA

  • Sitting front row at Beyonce’s “Cowboy Carter” tour

You’re…

  • Trying to make one sale

  • Wondering why everyone else is moving faster than me

  • Wondering if you should just walk away cuz you’ve sunk all this time (years!), energy and money into this

  • Tired!

But here’s the REAL secret behind celebrity brands..

They’re not just selling products — they’re selling identity, lifestyle, and emotion.

People know them - We see them on TV. We watch their movies. We sing their songs.
People like them.  Or hate them!

They trust them.

So buying their product feels easy — even automatic.  And in reality, you’ve already bought their other “products” such as movie tickets, concert tickets, song downloads, magazines with them on the cover and much more.

And that’s exactly what you need to build too.
Not fame, but familiarity. Not millions of followers, but connection.

Because people don’t buy the best product.
They buy from brands they feel something about.

People aren’t just buying lip gloss.
They’re buying into the vibe, the identity or the person behind it.

Maybe they love Hailey Bieber and want to glow like her.
Maybe they’re a mom and identify with Jessica Alba’s clean-mom mission.
Or maybe they can’t stand Kylie — but deep down, they wish they had her lifestyle (and sales).

That’s the power of emotional branding.

Even if people don’t consciously love the product, they’re drawn to the story, the lifestyle, or the persona behind it.  I know I have bought products from celebrities that I loved just because I wanted to support them.

Try this shift that works (even without a celebrity name)
Here’s how to create that same emotional pull without the fame.  It’s a simple shift you can try today.

Don’t just describe your product — describe who your customer becomes after they use it.

People want to feel something when they buy.

That’s what celeb brands do.

That’s what you can do, too.

1. Define the Dream
Ask yourself: Who does my customer want to become?
What identity or lifestyle are they chasing?
(Think: confident, organized, peaceful, successful.)

2. Connect the Product to That Identity
Don’t just describe your product — describe what it helps them become.
You’re not selling candles. You’re selling calm.
You’re not selling planners. You’re selling control.

3. Say It Out Loud (in Your Content)
In your next caption, email, or product description, write about the transformation, not the features. This is how you create content that resonates, builds trust, and sells — no fame required.

SCROLL-STOPPING TAKEAWAY

The real secret behind those billion-dollar celeb brands? People aren’t buying lip gloss or skincare… they’re buying:

  • The dream of having Kylie’s sport’s cars

  • The story of supporting Jessica’s “mom mission”

  • The feeling of being as beautiful as Rihanna’s if you buy her lipstick.

And guess what? You don’t need to be famous to create that pull.

Your story, your personality, and your mission are more than enough — when you know how to bring them into your content.

But if you’re tired of low traffic, no sales and no audience. And if you want a shortcut — a system that uses AI to help you:

P.S. - With all the time I saved using AI last week, I started watching “The Better Sister” on Amazon Prime. I didn’t expect to get so hooked ....

Murder. Secrets. Sisters.
It was giving Gone Girl energy and I’m here for it.  Can’t wait to see how it ends.
