BEYOND THE SCROLL

AI Search Is Here, Now What? How to Optimize for AI Search (and beat the Algorithm without paying for ads)

Remember when being on the first page of Google was the goal?

For years, SEO was the holy grail of online visibility. You found the right keywords, wrote blog posts, got backlinks, and waited for Google to reward you. Well … times have changed.

Welcome to the algorithm apocalypse!

SEO Isn’t Enough Anymore

Search is changing FAST!

Today, AI search tools like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Claude are reshaping how people find products, get answers, and make buying decisions. These tools don’t just crawl your site, they understand context and recommend businesses that feel helpful, trustworthy, and human.

In short? You’re no longer writing for algorithms.
You’re writing for AI assistants.

But also, platforms like ChatGPT, Perplexity, Bing Copilot and Google’s AI Overviews aren’t just returning a bunch of links that you have to sift through. They’re answering questions directly. And here’s the kicker: they’re choosing what to show based on how well your content is structured, summarized, and understood by AI.

In other words, AI does not ā€œsearchā€ the same way Google does and if your site isn’t ready, you’re getting skipped.

This isn’t the death of search; it’s the evolution of it. AI doesn’t crawl the internet like a detective looking for clues. It curates results based on confidence, clarity, and structured data.

And guess what? Most websites are still optimized for humans and Google spiders, not AI.

So what’s showing up at the top of these AI-generated answers?

  • Websites with clear context, structured content, and authoritative signals

  • Creators and shop owners who understand how to speak AI’s language

  • And, increasingly, those who use tools and schema markup to stand out

So, if you’ve ever felt like your content is good but not getting seen, this could be the reason.

But here’s the good news. You don’t need to be a tech wizard to start showing up in AI results. Let me show you how.

3 Steps to Start Optimizing for AI Search

Ready to catch the AI wave before Q4?

Here’s how to actually start getting recommended by AI tools (without ads, hacks, or wizardry):

Step 1: Think in ā€œQuestions & Answersā€

AI tools exist to answer people’s questions. So the first step is to reframe your content. Use plain language that your customers would type into ChatGPT. Forget keyword stuffing (which was a Google thing). Instead, ask: Would someone ask this question in a convo with an AI tool?

In other words, instead of just describing what you do or sell, answer the questions your ideal customer is asking.

Examples:

  • Instead of: ā€œOur candles are hand-poured and eco-friendly.ā€
Try: ā€œLooking for a calming candle made without harmful chemicals? Here's what to look for.ā€

  • Instead of: ā€œWe offer web design services.ā€
Try: ā€œNeed a website that looks good and converts visitors into customers? Here’s how we help.ā€

Add clear questions and answers into your site content, product pages, blog posts, FAQs, and even your meta descriptions.

Step 2: Make Your Content ā€œAI-Readableā€

If your site is cluttered, lacks structure, or is missing context, AI skips it. Period.

What helps AI understand your content better?

  • Headings that follow a logical order (H1 → H2 → H3…)

  • Alt text on images that describe what’s happening

  • Clear summaries at the top of pages (What is this page about?)

  • Internal links that connect related pages or products

  • Bonus: Embed FAQs that spell out common questions with clear answers

Think of it like this: if a robot had to explain your site to someone else, could it?
If not, simplify and structure.

Step 3: Start Using Structured Data (Teaser Alert šŸ‘€)

Structured data is how you formally introduce yourself to AI. It’s like adding a digital business card to your website that says:

  • Here’s who I am

  • Here’s what this page is about

  • Here’s what kind of product or service this is

This is called schema and it’s how AI knows you're legit.

We’ll go deep on this next week, but just know that this is the KEY to being seen by AI in the new economy.

(And if that sounds overwhelming, I’ve got a tool coming to help…)

SCROLL-STOPPING TAKEAWAY

The bottom line is Google search is decreasing and AI search is here. And not only is AI search here to stay, but it’s taking over. But more importantly, it’s changing how your business gets found. So start now by making your content easier for AI to understand, and stay tuned next week when we break down structured data (in plain English!) so you can show up, stand out, and get seen before Q4 hits.

BEHIND THE PROMPT

Coming Next Week …

If you’ve ever wondered how ChatGPT knows what to recommend, the answer is something called structured data (aka what your site is ā€œtellingā€ AI behind the scenes).

Most websites skip this step and it’s one reason they’re invisible in AI search tools.

But don’t worry… next week, I’m breaking it down without the tech jargon and showing you exactly what to do.
